Today's life scientist is entrusted with managing, analyzing and deciphering a deluge of raw and processed information as part of the discovery process. Core technologies that produce data such as sequences, images and traces are generating it at a rapid pace and with increasing resolution in terms of quality and quantity. Attempting to keep pace with this growth are the underlying analysis methods that employ technologies such as grid and high performance computing, web services and embedded databases. The ability to employ emerging and established techniques and tools that are derived from various disciplines as part of the discovery process is paramount.

The Biotechnology Computing Facility (BCF) offers a reliable infrastructure and framework comprised of leading edge computing technologies and staff members with diverse skill sets and educational backgrounds. BCF draws upon and complements the interdisciplinary strengths and resources available at the University of Arizona campus, for successful implementation of projects that are diverse in size, complexity and types of data. BCF engages with the campus community at various levels ranging from multi-institutional collaborative projects, graduate and undergraduate courses for credit and special topic seminars and workshops.

We truly believe in enabling digital discoveries for the life sciences.
