I'm an Applications Systems Analyst with a background in both molecular biology and computer programing. I have been working with the BCF since Nov. 2006. I design, develop, and manage robust LIMS (laboratory information systems) to organize data generated by UAGC 's high-throughput, automated workflows. Our systems pair reliable and scalable back-end databases with easy to use RIA web interfaces for our end users.
BCF LIMS help ensure the quality and efficiency of laboratory workflows by supporting the following areas:
- sample and inventory management
- assay results data archival, retrieval, quality control, and analysis
- automated reaction setup
- billing
Some of the projects I am currently working on:
- GAPSS - Python LIMS server.
- SLM - Flex RIA front-end to GAPSS.
- Plater - Python LIMS library used by GAPSS.
- Ilima - Python/Postgres/Dojo laboratory inventory control.
- SopWiki - interactive SOP editor with version support and manager approval process based on TWiki.
- CaLims II - Java based LIMS being developed by NCICB.

I am an Electrical Engineering student at the university and have been working with the BCF since early 2007. My specialties include but are not limited to: programming, web development and automation. When I first arrived here I had a decent general knowledge of most everything computer related, since starting in February of 2007 I have gained quite a lot more knowledge that has filled in gaps and details of things I had learned on my own before working here.
