UArizona DataLab Special Workshop: RNA-Seq

When

10 a.m. – 1 p.m., April 16, 2024

Instructors: Wesley Brashear and Joshua Winchell, High-Performance Research Computing, Texas A&M University.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Experimental Design: Learn how to strategize your RNA-Seq experiments for optimal results, considering factors like sample preparation, library preparation, and sequencing depth.
  • Sequencing Strategies: Explore the latest techniques and technologies in RNA-Seq, including single-cell, bulk, and long-read sequencing approaches.
  • Data Processing: In-depth knowledge of the command line, and essential tools for quality control, read mapping, and data preprocessing.
  • Differential Expression Analysis: Perform differential gene expression analysis using state-of-the-art R packages and statistical models.
  • Visualization and Interpretation: Develop data storytelling skills for more informative visualizations.

Prerequisites:

  • Basic Linux skills and, preferably
  • Familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing data formats (e.g. FASTQ files, SAM/BAM files)
