Government & Public Policy

I am a PhD Candidate in Government & Public Policy and a Master's Student in Data Science at the University of Arizona. Also, I am enrolled in the Computational Social Science Graduate Certificate. My research agenda includes causal inference, machine learning, natural language processing, and the governance of invasive species. I program primarily in R, but I am fluent in Python too.

Economics

William Brasic is a third-year doctoral student in economics from Chicago, IL. His research interests are in industrial organization, machine learning, and applied econometrics. Currently, he is studying the dynamics of algorithmic pricing and its effect on competition using reinforcement learning. Upon completion of his Ph.D.

Public Health Policy and Management Program

Caleigh Curley is a citizen of the Diné and Hopi Tribe; raised in Ganado, Arizona, within the Navajo Nation and now living on O’odam lands as a Doctoral Candidate in the Public Health Policy and Management Program at the University of Arizona (UArizona) Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH).

James E. Rogers College of Law

Brielle Hadley is a third-year J.D. student at the James E. Rogers College of Law. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science, with an emphasis in Neuroscience, from UC-Davis. Brielle works closely with the Natural Resource Use and Management Clinic and faculty at the College of Law who are completing empirical research in various areas. After graduation, she will clerk for the Arizona Supreme Court before joining Kirkland and Ellis in San Francisco, working in their Intellectual Property Litigation group.

Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

Epidemiology (MEZCOPH)

Joy Luzingu is a fourth-year PhD student in Epidemiology at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, working in Dr. Kacey Ernst’s lab. He arrived in the US in 2017 under the Fulbright program to pursue a Master of Public Health in One Health at the University of Arizona, followed by a Master of Science in Epidemiology at the same institution. During the first two years of his PhD program, he completed a graduate certificate program in Geographic Information Science (GIS).

Architecture & Institute for Energy Solutions/AI

Alyssa is pursuing a Master of Science in Architecture with a concentration in Sustainable Market Transformation. Her current research explores technical and social pathways to equitably decarbonize Tucson's housing stock.

Community, Environment & Policy Department

Imran Mithu is a doctoral student in the Community Engagement and Policy Department at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH). His research focuses on the intersection of climate change and neurodegenerative disorders, with an emphasis on utilizing big data and toxicological data to explore environmental impacts on neurological health.

School of Plant Sciences

Structural Engineering

Sudan obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Nepal. He then completed his MS in Structural Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. Sudan worked in a consulting firm, conducting wind tunnel testing and performance-based seismic design of high-rise reinforced concrete structures, for a few years before joining the University of Arizona for his PhD. Sudan's academic focus is on Structural Engineering with a minor in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering.

Atmospheric Science

Cassidy Soloff is a PhD student in Atmospheric Science. He grew up in New York City and attended Wesleyan University where he got a bachelor’s in physics and astronomy in 2022. Following an internship in NASA’s Student Airborne Research Program (SARP), Soloff decided to pursue atmospheric science research at the University of Arizona earning a master’s in 2024. Systems and Industrial Engineering

Sunday Usman is a Ph.D. student with a major in Systems and Industrial Engineering and a minor in Data Science and Statistics. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Production Engineering at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Arizona.

Genetics

I am a 5th year PhD student in the Genetics GIDP program. I grew up in Pennsylvania, and earned a bachelor's in Biology from Carleton College in 2018. My current research focuses on improving math models of protein evolution to aid in inferring the ancient history of life on earth.
